I have been described as a blend of country grace with the understanding of a world traveler. Raised on a large cattle ranch in central Texas, graduated pre-prep school in Deerfield Massachusetts, prep in Arizona, and earned a degree in Environmental Resource Management from The University of Texas.
Reclaimed Space has been built around my appreciation of resourceful ranch living, many years of studying our environmental impact, sustainable building practices, and my love of Texas history. It is a 7 year company that started as a speculative project, build one cabin, sell it, and be able to afford my own ranch cabin. Organically, with the spur of media attention, an award from the EPA, and many referrals, we have built 38 custom designed homes. Our homes have been delivered to California, Colorado, and all over Texas.
With 30 yrs experience in ranch and resort developing, home building, and custom site-work projects, Reclaimed Space has become the premier custom modular home provider from Texas. Through thoughtful design, use of 100 yr old material, and modern energy efficiencies, we build sustainable artisan homes the entire family loves.
Reclaimed Space has become a dream job for me, I get to find old barns and farm homes, negotiate their de-construction and salvage, design and build modular homes in an enclosed facility, and then deliver them to happy clients with the most beautiful pieces of land.
For as long as I can remember I've been thinking about how things are made and what makes a great place. It's fascinating to see the many ways people have found to thrive in vastly different landscapes and climates.
During my architecture education at the University of Texas at Austin, I spent as much time as possible researching alternative construction methods, sustainable systems and climate sensitive buildings. Since then, I've gained as much practical experience as possible in those same areas. I'm always looking to learn something new.
My approach to design is best summed up by this Buckminster Fuller quote: "When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty, but when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong."
I love road trips, elegant tools and practical bikes. My biggest turn-off is sheetrock and I'm a Sagittarius. Let's design something great together!
As a Designer and Project Manager, I dedicate my time to making sure that each unique concept turns into a functional and aesthetically pleasing space.
I am originally from Houston, and went to school at The University of Texas in San Antonio, where I earned my B.S. in Architecture. I call Austin my 'home away from home' where I enjoy live music and being active in multiple intramural leagues.
I honestly love our team and how we keep getting better and better with each new project. There is always something new to learn, and our adaptability and creativity are tested every day. Upon walking into the shop, I knew that I had to be part of this team that built and created such incredible pieces. I believe it's essential to add an aesthetic quality to anything that I do, and it was clear that it was just as important for each member of this hard-working family.
I graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio and have lived in Austin over 7 years now. It's rewarding to be able to 'wear so many hats'-- contributing to both operational and creative aspects of our process. In addition to obsessively figuring out the best and more efficient way to get things done, I consider myself a movie-buff, music lover, artist, and dog-mom to the craziest tripawd in Texas.
As a Project Assistant, I provide the finishing touches that make a house a home. From lighting fixtures to tile selections, I bring design concepts together to create a cohesive home that reflects each clients personal design aesthetic. I am thrilled to begin my design career at Reclaimed Space, and absolutely love working with clients to build their perfect dream home. I particularly enjoy creating a mood or a feeling in our Reclaimed Spaces that are functional and aesthetically pleasing.
When it comes to my own personal style, I find that I tend to lean more towards an eclectic style of interior design, carefully mixing both new and old to create something that is timeless. Change is a vital part of this industry and I have learned so much from my coworkers and clients on pushing the limits of our Reclaimed Spaces.
As a recent graduate of St. Edward's University, I have called Austin my home for the last 6 years. I am constantly finding jewels and gems that inspire me to push the boundaries of design in this little big city. I enjoy traveling, volunteering for the Austin Humane Society in my free time, and eating. You can catch me constantly trying to find the next best eatery, or planning a weekend trip to a city I've never been to.
